Memory Foam Mattress Reviews

Many memory foam mattress reviews on other review sites analyze half a dozen beds or more.  Obviously the reviews are written by people who haven’t even used the bed they are writing about.  Those reviewers can’t possibly know what it’s like to sleep in all those beds they review.  They pull their information from the manufacturer websites, from other blogs, from a variety of online sources, all in the effort to get you to buy a bed through their web site.  But they don’t sleep in all those beds they review, they don’t own them all or use them routinely to know if they are comfortable to sleep in, yet people keep asking them for their opinions.  It blows my mind when I think about it.  Yet they review dozens of beds.

*** All of the memory foam mattress reviews on my web page are based on beds my wife and I have actually owned and used for months and years.  I don’t think a person can effectively write a review and give an honest opinion on a bed without having slept in it for at least a few months.  I hope in reading this you agree.  All of the memory foam mattress reviews on this page are the real deal.

You Don’t Have To Spend Thousands

About ten years ago I laid down on a memory foam mattress at a local retail store while shopping for a new bed.  I instantly knew I wanted one, and my wife agreed.  We didn’t like the price tag however, which was over $2500.  I did some checking around and found an online retailer that sold a less known brand name bed for under $400.  It had great online reviews, so I took a chance and ordered it without ever having laid down on the bed in question.

I'm here to tell you that you don't have to spend thousands to get a fantastic memory foam mattress!

I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to spend thousands to get a fantastic memory foam mattress!

One of the best risks I ever took.  Our new bed was amazing.  I am never going back to a spring-loaded mattress.  I hope these memory foam mattress reviews help you find a great new bed.

I am here to tell you that you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on a memory foam mattress.  The big expensive brand name manufacturers will tell you that their beds are made better, will last longer, will sleep better longer…  But even the cheaper priced mattresses have ten to twenty-five year warranties.

I just moved my first purchased memory foam mattress that I slept in for nearly ten years into my newly updated guest bedroom, and it’s still going strong without any issues.  I’ve already had family guests that sometimes stay with us beam with approval after sleeping in that bed.  They love it over the spring mattress that used to be in that room.

    Great post!

I am looking for some mattresses and from your review it seems like Zinus could be a solid candidate. I never heard of it until I read your review. The guarantee along with the price makes it irresistible. Thank you for your review!

Thanks Andrei! Let me know if you have any questions on the Zinus memory foam mattress. I actually had to sleep in the guest room last night and use it again (my wife is coming down with a nasty cold and has a bad cough). After all the years we have had that bed it still is awesome to sleep in and has held up well. It looks new and sleeps great.

I really like this information. I do not own a memory foam mattress. I did sleep on a couple of them when going to a hotel for a special occasion. The only thing I did not like about the mattress is they felt like 2 beds in one. One that I slept on when I rolled over it was “divided” so it can memorize your body and the other person on the other side. Do you recommend a mattress that does not divide? Thank you. Reggie

      Hi Reggie,

Yeah, sound like you slept on two twin beds. Some places try and save money by buying two twin memory foam mattresses and then pushing them together. I hate that. I would never do such a setup. If ever looking for a foam mattress just buy a solid single unit. It’s the way to go!

Thanks for the sharing. I used to change mattress every 6 months to 1 years, with a lot of backache pain, until I stumble across the Slumberland mattress. Lately, I brought another set of the same brand. I cannot sleep without my Slumberland even check in int he 5 stars hotel, I would complain a backache the next morning.

So True! My wife always had problems with back pain. My life changes dramatically when we got our first memory foam bed. She was not so cranky in the morning and stopped complaining about the aches and pains she would have sleeping on an innerspring mattress.

This is an awesome article. I know that Memory Foam mattresses are good because I own a few of them. I was given my first one 5 years ago after I was having severe back pain. My son then gave me a memory Foam as a gift.
I do not wish to sleep on anything else now. Your post is quite informative.
    Thank you.

I really liked the features of Zinus because I rotate the bed at least 3 times in a year for cleaning and sometimes I move to my friend’s place. It looks like it will be durable for years.

Wow, ironic I ran into this. My wife just said something to me about one of her co-workers getting one of these at a low price. I wanted one but they were asking way too much last year. So I just got a regular mattress which was okay. but I can tell it will only last for about another year realistically. My question is how long do these mattresses perform? Every bed I have tried are good but they don’t have a long life span as staying comfortable.

      Great question Ronnie!

It depends of course on foam density. The more dense the foam that hardier it is and the longer it will last. Of course you can get memory foam beds that are very firm, which is a sign of density. But most people don’t find such memory foam mattresses that are hard/firm to be that comfortable. Most memory foam beds are in the medium to medium firm range. Many manufacturers, like the first Zinus foam bed my wife and I bought, offer ten year warranties on their beds. That should give you an idea of how long it could last. If the company is standing behind their product with a ten year limited warranty, that says a lot. As mentioned in a few posts on my page, that Zinus memory foam mattress my wife and I bought almost ten years ago is still working great. We just moved it into a newly remodeled master bedroom. I don’t see us getting rid of it anytime soon.

Our newest memory foam bed, by Classic Brands, has a twenty-five year warranty!! Personally, I don’t care how well a bed may hold up, I can’t imaging using the same bed for 25 years. But it is interesting that it has that kind of a warranty. Ten year full warranty, then fifteen pro-rated. And it cost us less than $800. It was by far the most expensive memory foam bed we ever purchased, but is still a lot less than some of the other BIG name brands out there.

The Zinus with the ten year warranty costs less than $350 at the time I write this for a KING size.

Good luck on your next bed purchase!

Thanks for the excellent review. I agree in the prices in the shops are just so ridiculous. I couldn’t believe just how much of a saving that I can make by looking around on the internet.

I particularly like how you favor the Zinus brand as you have had it many years. For me that is a great endorsement and I’ll probably go for that one.

That is great. My mattress is poking me springs now. It all torn inside. I need to change it. The cooling effect part of that mattress which you suggested is awesome in this sunny weather. Thanks reviewer.

      Hi Arooj,

Yep, sounds like you need to ditch that innerspring mattress. Sounds terrible! If you get a memory foam mattress I am sure you will like it a lot of not simply love it. They totally changed my life and my wife’s. We sleep better, feel better, dream better… Simply awesome.
